‘Fast & Furious’ puts its best foot forward
‘The Fast And The Furious’ broke new ground in 2001, when it became the first Hollywood film to use the growing social phenomenon of street-racing as the basis for its big-budget story-line. The commercial success of the film, together with its glossy look and gleaming muscle-cars, made a global superstar out of actor Vin Diesel, and spawned a string of successful sequels.
Now, just as this eventful decade draws to a close, the original team of talent is re-united for the forthcoming ‘Fast & Furious’; the fourth, biggest and best instalment in this world-pleasing franchise. A few important elements are entirely new, including a wider selection of featured cars and bikes; a globetrotting selection of locations; and an extremely innovative pair of driving shoes.
Those trainers worn by Agent Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) in his hot pursuit of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) were especially tailored for the task by PUMA. The result is a very special shoe, The Urban Racer. Now available to buy on the high street, this high-performance shoe is designed and manufactured with such style and quality that any self-respecting street racer would be excited to sport them.
The Urban Racer’s cup-sole heel is especially designed to assist in making accelerating, braking and changing gear as fast and efficient as is humanly possible. But, look carefully, and there are also some intriguing design features which pay homage to the shoe’s special mission-statement; elements of the shoe’s outer moulding which intentionally echo car pedals and aerofoils.
PUMA’s new shoe certainly seems to have succeeded in putting the ‘Fast & Furious’ box-office pedal to the metal. During the course of its opening weekend alone, the film grossed a till-jangling $72.5 million in America; increasing anticipation of its release in Europe.
To celebrate our partnership with ‘Fast & Furious’, we’re giving away a pair of Urban Racer shoes to ten lucky winners. The competition has now closed.
