Out of Texas and Into The Dirty Dirty
Leaving Dallas was hard, to say the least… Was not feelin’ the seven A.M. wake -up call after the Ghost Bar, and I struggled to make it to the car on time. Did not even have time for a bite before the engines roared and metal monsters hit the highway again.
I’m convinced the organizers create such a schedule to throw everyone into a perpetual dream-state… The lack of sleep, all night benders, and epic drives combine for a dream inducing tonic… When I close my eyes, all I see is the road flying by.
Today I joined the UNDFTD krew again to tackle Texas and head into the dirty south. New Orleans was our next destination and we only stopped for gas in an effort to make it to the city with a history in time to actually see a bit of things there.
Quick lunch at Cracker Barrell, my first.
Welcome to Louisiana.
Rocking chairs on the deck, not a myth. It’s so hot here anyway, after you eat it’s all you can do. Kick back and watch the bayou.
The highway in Louisiana is really one long bridge. It just never ends, amazing engineering…
Surreal to imagine what it must have been like in this city after Katrina. Our trip took us past the Superdome. Prayers to those who lost their life, and thanks to those who helped others in need at the time. You would never know by the look of it, that this was the scene of such chaos and calamity. We would have to dig deeper to see remnants of this city’s past. Luckily we arrived in New Orleans with a bit of daylight, and after a quick check-in headed back out to explore (see the next post)….
Bourbon St. are you ready?
