The Florida Panhandle is LOOOONG
This is a bit of an understatement… Today would be the longest day on record. 650 Miles from New Orleans to Orlando through pretty much nothing but, well, nothing… I’m sure if you didn’t have 650 miles to do in a day, it would be great to stop-off and check some of the lovely sites along the Gulf Coast, but we had a destination to reach, and wanted to get there before morning the following day…
All in all it wasn’t a bad ride really. We stopped in Mobile, Alabama for lunch aboard a battleship, the USS Alabama, where I caught up with the Fuel Girls, UNDFTD, and Mario for a minute… When in the South, BBQ is a must, and they had an amazing spread on deck for the Gumballers.
Back out on the road we saw other Gumballers in spurts, the Rogue Statues krew at a Burger King gas station, all adorned with their happy meal King Crowns (what’s the burger king version of the kids meal called anyway?) And, we even made time to stop and smell the roadside wildflowers…. smelled delicious, much improvement from roadside bathrooms, and rest-stops…
Elo’s SCC broke an axle on the way to New Orleans, so he had one shipped in overnight. He used somebody’s welder on the side of the road to do a little handiwork just to make it in to New Orleans in one piece. Impressive skillset.
That sign just got Gumballed
The USS Alabama, hosted our BBQ lunch in Mobile. Delicious.
Mario, lampin’
PUMA vs. UNDFTD… NASTY!
Love the sweet white gloves.
Cop Stop
The King, in all his glory
So what if I think flowers are pretty.
After the longest drive ever, the Ritz in Orlando was a welcome site.
Smokin’ a stog was a perfect way to close the day.
